Webinar on the conversion of depositary receipts for shares of Russian companies
MAGENTA Legal and the German law firm AWARR Legal held a webinar on the conversion of depositary receipts for shares of Russian companies.
Our team has been working on this project for two years and has achieved multi-million dollar results for dozens of clients, including in the context of the so-called mandatory conversion in 2022.
During the webinar, Ms. Antje Radtke-Rieger, Managing Partner of AWARR Legal, spoke about the current status of the conversion, the types of Depositary Receipts for which the books are open and conversion is possible, including the confirmation of the German Bundesbank on the admissibility of this activity from the point of view of European sanctions regulations.
The Managing Partner of MAGENTA Legal Anton Shamatonov spoke about the Russian segment of the project, the difficulties of co-operation with Russian depositories and banks and the ways to solve these problems. Since one of the areas of our work is also the claiming of dividends on such shares, special attention was paid to this topic.
