The results of the authoritative Russian individual rating of lawyers PRAVO-300 have been summarised. Less than 45% of the nominated (and only a few people from a firm could be nominated) legal consultants were included in the rating, according to the organisers themselves. According to Article 1229 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the use of intellectual property results or means of individualization (such as a trademark) without the rights holder’s consent is prohibited. Such use is unlawful and entails liability. Following the logic of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the use of a trademark as a keyword in contextual advertising may be deemed unlawful. However, courts often deny protection of rights on this basis.

Last week the results of two legal ratings were published: first, Russian Gazette published the rating of the best lawyers and their firms, and a little later the award ceremony of the prestigious PRAVO-300 rating, which celebrated its 15th anniversary, took place. As a renewed brand, MAGENTA Legal took part in the rating for the first time – and was recognised in all 4 nominations of the federal ratings.

The Federal Customs Service of Russia identified approximately 5 million units of counterfeit products over the past year. At the "World Quality Day in Russia" forum held in Moscow, experts discussed ways to combat this issue, which affects consumers, producers, and online platforms.

On 5 October 2024 the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1278 dated 18.09.2024 (hereinafter - the Resolution) came into force, the provisions of which significantly increased state fees for registration of trademark and other intellectual property objects.

We consulted with our trusted partners in the field of criminal law support for business and received confirmation from them that the document was fake.
